Habitat for Humanity is an international organization founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller who had a passion for providing affordable housing for those in need. Today, Habitat is a worldwide network in 95 countries and has built or remodeled over 150,000 homes.
Here in Bergen County, Habitat is involved in the same life-giving work of building and renovating homes for hardworking people in the county. Currently, a single family, three-bedroom home in Bergenfield is being built.
Members of First Congregational participate in builds, provide funds, and advocate for housing within Bergen County.

Recently, volunteers spent a Saturday working at Habitat for Humanity’s Oradell project. Habitat is building two duplexes, creating four 3-bedroom homes which will provide affordable housing for low-income families. The homeowner families are also involved in the work at various levels. Habitat’s mission is to provide affordable homes for Bergen County families.
